About Me

The Way I Work

I enjoy working with people long-term to get to the root of what it is they are experiencing. Not just placing a small plaster over a large wound. I often work with clients who describe feeling left with a sense of “unfinished business” from previous short-term counselling and feel ready to explore themselves beyond a surface level.

Something I love about being a therapist is the opportunity to work with a wide diversity of clients. In particular, I have a lot of personal and clinical experience with neurodivergence, as well as gender, sex and relationship diversity (GSRD). I feel this is important to highlight as I am aware of the difficulties some clients may face in accessing therapy. I offer a safe and welcoming space to those looking to explore the challenges that are unique to them.

I love working both creatively and cognitively. This means I love working alongside thinkers who want to keep being curious about themselves by joining the dots together; or with clients who like to play or create as part of their journey.

Whatever your situation, please feel free to contact me to find out more. I offer a free telephone consultation to help you decide whether I’d be a suitable therapist for you

If you’d like to explore working with me further, I recommend we start by speaking over the phone. You can arrange this by emailing me here or by using the form on my contact page.

My Story

Many therapists come to their profession through a personal encounter with mental health difficulties, and I am no exception. For many years, I struggled on my own journey, seeking support in order to work through a combination of anxiety and depression. These were incredibly challenging times; however it was only by passing through this period of reflection and therapeutic practice that I could evolve as a person and, most wonderful of all, come to my profession as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.

I understand that this journey is unique for every individual and I feel that by having engaged with counselling both as a recipient and provider, I have a deeper understanding of the process and how best to help my clients.

My training took place across two different organisations, as it felt important to find the right training that reflects the therapist I want to be. I developed my understanding of theory and psychoeducation at Northern Guild (one of the leading accredited training organisations in the region) and strengthened my relational skills at Scarborough Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Institute which has taught me to safely and effectively work in depth with clients. I also hold a qualification in Group Facilitation Skills.
