Telephone consultation:
This is a chance for you to have a chat with me about what you are looking for and ask any questions you may have. Having this call does not mean you are obliged to have therapy with me, it is there to help you make an informed decision on what to do going forward.
50 minute initial assessment:
The assessment session gives me an opportunity to learn more about your life experiences, as well as ease you into the therapy process. It will involve me asking you questions about you and your history and there will be no pressure for you to think about what to bring for the session as it’ll be lead by me.
Video call session:
For video sessions, you will need access to the internet (good enough to stream Netflix or watch YouTube), a device that has a camera (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone) and a safe, quiet and private space to speak from. I also recommend the use of earphones to help with sound quality and to create a feeling of privacy.
While most of us may be getting used to using video calls as a way of communicating with others, it may still feel jarring to consider having therapy this way. I would be happy to talk over these concerns, however my clients believe that sessions via video call have proven to be just as effective as sessions that are conducted face to face. I have also undertaken additional training to ensure that my work online is as beneficial for clients as possible.
Some of the benefits of online therapy are:
- You can have therapy whenever and wherever you are
- You may find you are more comfortable speaking online and that it is easier to talk
- Therapy can work around your life
- I can offer continued support, even if either of us is travelling
- I can be more flexible with finding a time for us to meet
